Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, this person assumes responsibility for the technical aspects of the laboratory work necessary for carrying out the experiments and/or projects. The candidate is responsible for the organization of equipment and supplies in electrotechnical and electronics laboratories.


Discusses with teaching and professional personnel and students the projects, experiments and work that they want to undertake in order to understand the orientation, the precision required and the technical requirements ; takes the necessary measures to ensure their technical realization.

May design, modify, build and install electronic and electrical circuits, devices and instruments.

Develops plans, specifications and technical documents for the installation or improvement of electrical distribution, lighting and electronic control systems and then performs the work.

Advises, assists and guides users and troubleshoots and demonstrates the use and operation of electronic and electrical equipment and instruments.

Performs tests, calibration and adjustments of electrical appliances, machines, devices and measuring instruments.

Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and repair of electronic and electrical equipment. Communicates with the persons concerned during major breakdowns and ensures the cleanliness and safety of workplaces.

Classifies and inventories instruments, tools, devices, and other equipment under his/her responsibility, ensures their supply, verifies delivery and carries out the preliminary tests.

Participates in the planning of the practical work and assumes responsibility for the preparation of laboratories and premises used for experimental and training purposes.

Reports on the results of his/her observations and interprets them within the limits of his/her competence.

Provides technical support and troubleshooting to students during high voltage measurements on electrical machines and power electronics measurements.

Uses software relevant to his/her field of activity and participates in the development of new applications.

Advises the persons concerned on the choice of the equipment to be used and takes the corresponding measures.

Consults various specialized journals and books and keeps abreast of technological developments in his/her field.

Manipulates, transports, calibrates, adjusts and uses various devices, instruments, equipment and tools necessary for practical teaching and research work. Sees to their proper functioning.

May supervise support staff, collaborate in their training, apportion work, verify execution and, at the request of the reporting person, provide feedback during evaluations.

Temporarily performs various tasks associated with a related or lower position when required.

Work schedule : 35 hours per week, in accordance with clause 30.01 (b) of the current collective agreement

Requirements :

College diploma (DEC) in an appropriate discipline, notably in industrial electronics technology or equivalent.

Two (2) years relevant experience

Speak French

Salary :

Between $23.47 per hour and $31.65 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
