M.Sc. student opportunity in marine biogeochemistry

Project description

The project will be focused on distributions and cycling of dissolved inorganic and organic carbon, chromophoric dissolved organic matter, and dissolved methane in the James Bay, Quebec, Canada. This is part of a multidisciplinary research program aiming to assess the impact of environmental factors on the ecology of eelgrass beds along the east coast of the James Bay. In collaboration with other groups, the student will participate in intensive field sampling and measurements as well as laboratory assays.

Financial Support

A scholarship of $16,000 per year will be provided for two years. A tuition exemption program is also available to cover the extra tuition fees of international students.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience Required

  • Satisfy the requirements for admission into the M.Sc. program in oceanography at the Université du Québec à Rimouski ;
  • B.Sc. degree in chemistry (aquatic chemistry, marine chemistry, environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry or a related discipline) ;
  • Experience in the laboratory ;
  • Experience at sea (an asset).
